Hey, my toshiba laptop seems to be waking up from it's sleep state "automatically".

I have no Idea wtf is wrong, most of the time I use the sleep function for ease of use, but after leaving it for like 1-3hours, it's either it's "ON", or it's battery is depleted, thus making the laptop goes to a crappy shut down state.

Another thing is the Hibernate function seems to be not working properly as well, when I try to hibernate it, the screen just goes black, but the laptop has still power, led lights are still up.

Sorry if this is not the right place though. Thanks :D

Does it actually go into 'sleep' mode properly, then turn back on?

It sounds like you may have changed some of the power settings to allow 'some' program to awake the laptop from sleep mode.

    It's a Toshiba A100 running Vista.

The laptop goes into the sleep mode properly, and It just suddenly wakes up.

And duration of sleep to auto-wake up is different, sometimes after 2 hours, sometimes it's not doing the auto-wake-up for like 10hours.

I've been having this problem since last month only.

As for the power settings, how do I make it to the default settings ? I don't even remember if I changed it.

The keyboard and mouse may be set to automagically wake up the laptop if disturbed. There's a setting in the device properties for both the keyboard and mouse that allow the wake-up function to be disabled.

This happens to my notebook aswell. A Feature in Vista is that if your in Standby or in Suspended mode after a while the computer will switch on and Hibernate instead in order to save battery. The problem that happens alot of times is that hibernation is broken (on my laptop, probably on yours too) and it stays on the "hibernating" screen untill your battery is depleted. I have no idea how to disable this "feature" because when I want my laptop in standby I want it to stay in standby not switch over to hibernation after a while.
