After a beverage (not a lot, about 3 oz) was spilled on a Toshiba A55-S306 laptop, it was powered off and the fluid was cleaned out and it was given a day to dry. When I went to turn it on, it just beeps and doesn't boot (nothing displays on the LCD). If I disconnect the keyboard, it posts ok and boots XP (so it seems the internals are ok). I don't have an external keyboard handy to try plugging in, I do have a mouse connected, which works. Before ordering a new keyboard, I wanted to get your opinion, does it sounds like a new keyboard will do the trick? I found one at NPD (800.524.8338) for $47 + 8.5 shipping. thanks in advance!
Also, with the keyboard plugged in, the caps lock doesn't light up when pressed during post. thanks!

I guess the keyboard is dead then. I really hope that is all that must be replaced.
Good luck, -

It does sound like the keyboard. I would check on Ebay...there are usually keyboards on there for assorted laptops and are cheaper if you don't want to pay full-price. Just to make sure, how many times does it beep when you have the keyboard connected?

It beeps and keeps beeping...Doesn't stop until I turn it off or unplug it. Also to note, with the USB mouse connected (it has a see thru bottom half) and it flashes on and off in sync with the beeping. thanks for the replies!

As others have stated, it's a dead keyboard - replacing it would probably solve the problem. The light not working on the CAPS key is a good indicator that the keyboard is dead.
