At first i just thought that i was going to have to deal with this because it has a new operating system. now it is getting annoying. I have had this Toshiba for almost 10 mo, and for the last 5 mo it freezes monday - Friday between 8am - 10am. I am not kidding! it is only when i am at the office, connected to the network here.
Anyone know where i could look? i just got new windows updates all drivers are up to date. none of the other vista mechines on the network crash. I dont have a virus (house call online)
A135-s4527
Vista permium.
any help would be great!
thanks

Overheating maybe?
-
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
I don't think it sounds like overheating. That wouldn't explain why it only happened at the office unless the office is much hotter than your house and even during the daylight hours I don't think tat would make a major difference because the fan is designed to compensate.
However, if none of the other Vista machines crash on the network I wouldn't immediately jump to the network conclusion. What software have you installed on there. Is a firewall conflicting with the network and causing it to crash? -
Hello.
I have almost the same problem. My laptop (Toshiba A135-S4427 + Vista) crashes almost every day. It simply freezes, even the mouse stop moving. Moreover, the crashes started when i switched my internet access from a wifi based to one with a network cable (ethernet). Thus, i think this may be the source. I've been making tests and switching setups in order to avoid the problem but since now i was unable to find a solution. The only firewall I use is the one from Vista.
Any ideas or solution for this problem ?
Thanks! -
My X205-S9359 was doing this also, so I updated all drivers, no help. After a while I was getting errors opening files as well as other weird problems. I reloaded windows and all factory software, no help. I installed a clean copy of Vista, no help. I swapped the pos Toshiba hard drive with a Hitachi, no more problems...
My X205-SLI1 did the same thing with mixed ram modules. I was running one 1gb stick of Samsung(factory) and another 2gb stick of Geil and it would freeze once and a while. Throwing the original stuff back in(other stick of Samsung)(or both sticks of Geil), no more problems. Funny thing is the S9359 ran fine with mixed ram...
I also disabled onboard lan on both, because I use wireless only, just to avoid any problems with that.. -
Wow!!, I am running mixed memory on both my 9349 and sli1, 1Gig dimm of the original memory and a 2Gig dimm of buffalo memory and both are running fine so far, one note is that I have XP running on both instead of Vista not sure if that might make a difference.

I think I've found a solution for the problem on my laptop, at least a temporary one. I switched the network card driver from the last one in the realtek site to the oldest one i have in my computer which is from microsoft. Now i have four days with no crash. I hope this stability continues. Maybe there are issues between Vista and the Realtek's driver.

Bad news for me. The problem isn't completely solved. The crashes are now more rare, but they keep happening specially when i use the uTorrent client and the network use for upload increases. Other uploads also imply on system crash sometimes. Any help is welcome.

I have looked at all the posts so far and what I would do is put the notebook back to the factory setting. Take out any new hardware you installed like memory and try it for a few days. Do not update the drivers just let it run for a few days and then if you added memory put it back in and see what happens.

First of all.. My Laptop runs AS IS with Vista and it is fast and responsive.
Of course I removed the rubbish software.
I get good performance with,
Office 2007, SQL SERVER EXPRESS 2007, Visual Studio 2005, Adobe Master Collection ( Premiere, AfterEffects, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator) all are VERY VERY GOOD. No games. Not a gamer. Using dual monitor output.. excellent.
As the folder directories get larger the system struggles to update the file system rapidly. For this price I do not complain.
My company has bought HP and SONY VAIO's in the past year.
HP's have mixed performance. SONY perform very well, with sooooo many problems. The last one was $2000 and even SONY is of no help with wireless problems.
My Toshiba:
I HAVE Driver problems with the MULTIReADER and the WIRELESS.
After the last AETHEROS update there are no more wireless problems.
The multireader is not working. I have to search for a new driver.
U Torrent is a pain. I used to crash the O/S whenever using it.
The last update 1.75.4606 worked great initially.
I tracked the System Errors: Too many TCP/IP requests.
I crashed today using Firefox 2.0.0.11
I suspect my router is not behaving with Vista.
XP never has a problem.
I cannot get any system reported errors. Using the new Vista System
Problem Reports and System
in the past it would tell me everything.
The last version of Utorrent had a known incomptability with Vista and Vista would tell you that UTorrent caused the crash. Now, NOTHING.
Recent Error logs for Applications and Systems tells me NOTHING.
So, there are networking issues with Ethernet, Wireless.
These parts are all very cheap on this laptop so I am not surprised.
I bought a PCIMA wireless card for the SONY VAIO at work. $!50
Now no problems.
I am busy searching for the Multireader drivers and no luck.
I know it is Texas Instruments so I am focused on their website.
Let me know what you think. -
Okay I updated the MASS CONTROLER DRIVER and the Flash SD driver.
One came from the Toshiba Site and the other was downloaded by Vista automatically at the Texas Instrument website. So, my Media Port is running ok.
Using a 1 GB SD card as SpeedBoost. Use it. I see the improvement already.
Imagine if I spent the money for the RAM and went to 2GB.
Next to experiment with: uTorrent. -
My crashing problem is solved. I stopped using the LAN card and now I'm only using the wireless networking. No more problems, no more crashes. Except when the video driver was updated by Vista automatically. After a rollback, everything became ok again. But no LAN working at all.
-
ebatista.. I am with you on the WIRELESS.
I am only using Wireless and no problem and no crash for months.
I do not know if the problem is with our ROUTERS, VISTA, or LAN DRIVERS.
However, I do not have another PC LAN card nor router to test with, so for now I am happy no more crashing. We obviously have a similar problem.
If you resolve it please let me know.
Otherwise, this laptop is running great. -
Hello.
After a long time (3 months) I'm posting here. I had no more crashes since my last posts and the solution really was switching from LAN to Wireless, same as for neveronasunday.
I'd like to thank everyone and I hope this information is useful to others.
Laptop crash (everyday)
