My older toshiba (dual core Pentium, vista loaded best buy $350) is not getting power. The laptop is plugged in 24 hours a day every day. A couple years ago the dog chewed through the cord that runs from laptop to charger, so I got a generic one from ebay.

Today, I come home and the laptop shows that it is not plugged in, but it is. Chargers light is lit up and it puts out ~22v (if I checked it right).

I tried taking out battery, taking out and holding down power button for 30 seconds, and moving the power cord around. The charger has been tripped on before, so the part that plugs into the laptop is bent some (been like that for a year).

This leads me to think it is internal. What should I look for when I take it apart?

edit: This is an a205 model. The power jack test ~22v plugged into the laptop. So, I think that is good.

It's very common to bend the piece on the motherboard that the charger plugs into. I've seen it quite a few times. Just a matter of fixing it.

Yes, it's internal. You should look very carefully around the receptacle that the charger plugs into, and see if the pins aren't broken or pulled out of the solder.
