Can anyone recommend a good laptop repair place here in LA?

I have a Toshiba M35-S359 (about a year old now) that is prone to random freezing and crashing.

I suspect it is heat related (using NHC and clocking it right down makes it last a lot longer). It's been in a backpack for the best part of its life, so it's been banged around a little, and well used.

I tried to strip it down and clean out the ducts and system fan (which is a lot noisier than it was when I originally purchased the system)... but to no avail.

I wanted to remount the CPU heatsink and reload it with some new thermal grease, but I just couldn't get it disassembled to the point where I could access it...

Anyway - I'm looking for a laptop repair service here in Los Angeles that might be able diagnose and repair the problem (without anally raping my wallet).

Can anyone recommend anywhere? What are Toshiba service centers like?

    Thanks

    Dave :eek:verheat:

Try calling Toshiba and have them fix it. Otherwise, I really don't know. The Geek Squad? CompUSA? I don't know where you are, so I can't really direct you. In addition, if you don't live in my area (I live in LA too), then I don't know if I can reccommend a place to you.

    Thanks.

I'm in West LA - Santa Monica area... I have a deep distrust of places like CompUSA and Geek Squad, simply because repairing laptops isn't their core business.

I don't mind driving for a while, if there is a place you'd recommend a bit away.

Well, I live in the South Bay area, so you'll be driving 2-3 hours depending on where you live. I don't know if you'll still want to do this - I have to get the company name from our family friend - I don't know it.

Don't worry Hex - I'm still trying to get the name from our friend. They've seemed to gone on vacation, so I'll have to get it from them when they get back. Sorry for the wait.
