Hi!
After about 9 months from date of purchased, my motherboard died so I asked Toshiba to get it replaced. After a month, they gave my laptop back. However, I noticed that my laptop ran slower than before. This can be clearly seen when I used it for gaming. For example, I play a game called Dota 2, which requires a strong processor for it to run smoothly. Well, before the motherboard got changed, it ran flawlessly. Now, I am experiencing constant lags. And I'm sure it is not because of my internet.
I feel like my laptop deteriorated. I tried updating my drivers, downloading them from Toshiba, but nothing happened. I've done the basic clean up and defragging of my disks. Still, no results.
Any thoughts? What do you think is the problem?
I guess it's the motherboard change, but considering I got the replacement from the manufacturer, I assume they did it right. Please, help. I just bought this 10 months ago and I'm starting to regret it.
Cheers! Thank you to those who will help.![]()

I see you Toshiba probably has a nvidia Geforce dedicated graphics chip; and nvidia optimus technology [graphics switching]. Please verify your laptop is set to run DOTA-2 with the Geforce; if it is not set correctly, it could use the much slower Intel HD 4000 graphics.
This video by nvidia goes over some of the basics of nvidia Optimus technology.

Hi!
Nvdia GPU is set to default. So, I guess that is not the problem.
But thank you for your input though!
Cheers! -
Is the fan running at all?
I had a G55 that had a fan socket damaged when I had the vase open and it ran insanely slow until I fixed it. -
what other symptoms of "deteriorated" performance are you experiencing? -
Ah. I guess nvidia 630m is not powerful enough to run the game.
Sorry for the late reply but is it ok to update my nvidia driver in my toshiba laptop? Will it cause malfunctions because I did not get it from my manufacturer? -
Nvidia drivers should work without any major problems. I myself use nvidia drivers [non-Toshiba].
However, you may want to download a copy of the Toshiba drivers first and have them on hand incase you want/need to revert back.
Good luck
**EDIT**
Although, make sure you download the "notebook" drivers and NOT the desktop drivers.
