I downloaded the latest WHQL certified drivers from nvidia today 163.69 and ran 3D-Mark 06 just wondering if this is a good non-overclocked score for the X205-S9359 version. I scored 4419 at all default settings at 1280 x 1024 (default resolution)SM2.0 Score = 1904 HDR/SM 3.0 = 1637 CPU Score = 1753. Do these numbers seem high, low or average to all of you i'd appreciate your input.

Does Nvidia's 163.69 support the 8700M does it?

Or are you talking about laptopvideo2go with modded .inf?

I used the laptopvideo2go modified 163.69 drivers and so far they are working fine on my X205-9349 laptop. I haven't tried 3D Mark 06 on it yet, but have been playing FEAR and Bioshock and both games run just fine, averaging 68fps on FEAR @ 1280x800 with most settings on max and no AA and 4x AF. :D

    I've got 4413...
My T7300 cpu score seems low at 1722... :(

Overall the scores seems low compared to last generation mobile cards 79xx, which a similar system scores 5400s and above.
    More than a 1,000 points!
    What is nVidia thinking??#@!

    I get 4968 at 1360x768.

    Why can't i see 1280x1024 in 3dMark06?

    I have T7700, cpu scored 2089.

Does the AA and AF settings you have in NVidia control panel affect 3DMark06?

That is, if you force them on there, will your 3DMark score go down?

My 3DMark score is OK, but my ingame performance is crap.

I'm with you Planet, something may be up with 8700M.

    But isn't it just on o'clocked 8600M?

Where are all the complaints from 8600M owners?

What the...? People I get about 5000 in 3DMark at the same resolution as you with my X200's 8700M GT, using the stock drivrs and overclocking (who needs new drivers when we can overclock? :D)

Sonick, 4400 is a bit low but in the zone...

have you applied the Vista Hotfixes?
    Compatibility fixes - KB938194
    Memory - KB940105
    Performance - KB938979

Bet you jump 150-200 points with those.

What was your score before the processor? Also, are you running cas4 mem or cas 5? That's a good score... A score of 43XX to 44XX is the norm for a stock X205....

Look at his sig... he is using the clevo one which is factory overclocked and his RAM is not underclocked like the x205s are.

Note he is sporting the 7700 as well which jumps his score by 300 or more points just due to processor-only test bias in 3dmark06.

truthfully, I bet he could squeeze out a 5000 with some tweaking considering his processor and his factory OC'd 8700.

Honestly, I am glad he is posting as it really is more about the 8700GT than the x205 and his data points are quite helpful IMHO.

Yeah, I saw that about the processor... I had originally ordered the Sager, but the seller couldn't ship on the date as promised, so I cancelled. So far I'm somewhat happy with the X205(except the lousy display). I've got a 7200rpm drive and 4gigs of ram now, so it performs ok. I'm patiently awaiting some o/c'able drivers to see what I can squeeze out of this thing.

Funny, my display is beautiful, and I see a lot of laptops through this IT department.

Must be the 1440x900 screen uses a different vendor as nothing short of the ASUS G1S or G2S or the alienware machines have anything this good to my eyes.

The Dell models (Vostro 1700, Vostro 1500, Inspirion 1520, 1720) are noteably inferior to this screen.

I didn't think much about my display until I had it next to a friends $500 laptop, his display was brighter and had better viewing angles... I was disgusted! I guess the S9359 uses a Phillips display, so that explains everything(junk)!

Weird... I have a 17" Desktop flatscreen at work I attach to as a second screen and I go out of my way to use the screen attached to my x205 as its superior to even the desktop LCD I have...

Our results are night and day... although I am not fond of the definitely present deflection issues, they are still head and shoulders better than every Dell screen I have seen. (and we get lots of those as our company has a deal running with Dell)

Must be that they use a better display on the S9349....even though it's lower res. If you ever get a chance, check out a S9359 and you'll see what I'm talking about.

That's honestly why I'm selling my X205 and going for an Alienware m9750. The X205 is a great laptop, but the display... is horrible. The colors are just slightly washed out, you can't tweak it for color accuracy and it's always just about one step too dim for my tastes.
