I have changed the charger my Toshiba (that I received from work) twice already, and both times, it gradually stopped charging:
Firstly, it was as if the connection point of the charger was incorrect - I could get it charging for a while by adjusting the connection, but as soon as I moved the laptop a bit, the charger's connection seemed to be 'lost'.
Finally, the charger pack itself started making squeaking noise, as if there is a motor inside and it was running quite badly.

I am not sure if there is an issue with how I use my laptop, but I would like to know if this is a common issue! I am trying to buy a new personal laptop, and I am not too sure if I should buy another Toshiba because of that...

I have had many toshiba notebooks, never had your problem.
I even have an 11 year old toshiba laptop in my garage that still works.

the noise you heard was probably a 60hz vibration.

the link you gave is a nice guide :)
If you're not confidant about that sort of thing then maybe you can take it to a repair shop and pay them to do it.

I've heard this is a common issue with Tosibas. If its still under warranty, call them up for a new charger, although I don't think that is the issue for you.

That sounds really bizarre, I have exactly the same experience as yours !!!

First charger had problem with the connection and the second made the noise you're talking about...

I don't know which charger I should buy now...
