Hey guys, I have been posting in one of the review threads but figured I'd throw a new thread up instead of continually high jacking that one.
I have RMA'd a sony vaio EC series that I just recently got. I didnt mind the laptop but it had horrible vertical viewing angles, only usb ports right where a righty would use a mouse (really?), among a few other problems.
While I am awaiting my RMA to be completed I am trying to figure out what to get once I have my money back. I am looking to spend around $1100-1600 (I know its a bit of a range lol) on a good gaming laptop.
I agree with most of you that the lower 'tier' Qosmios are a GREAT deal for the hardware you get in them, and If I decide only to spend the lower end I think this would be my choice (although I still have concerns about the screen, as I can't find any to check out in person).
A couple things I would like if possible however are blu-ray player, lighted keyboard, 1080p screen. If I decide I want these I would have to move to a higher model Qosmio. Now I know this is the Toshiba forum but are the higher model ones really worth it? At the 1500-1600 price point am I better off moving to an ASUS g37 or some other equiv.?
TBH I think my GF's XPS M1730 somewhat spoils what I expect to get (She had a custom inspiron that once the Vid card busted and they couldnt fix, they gave her the xps), I mean this thing has a 1920 x 1200 screen and it looks great (also our desktop has a very nice HP screen). So although im trying not to be too harsh, the lappys ive seen in store dont have the most impressive screens.
Also how long until these new Sandy bridge laptops hit the market? If its somewhat soon I might just wait for 'em.
TLDR: Best gaming laptop for 1400-1600 with a good screen(1080p)?
Thanks in advance I hope the book of a post isnt too long haha.

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my other posts is that the high end Satellites only have a 720p screen, whereas anything above Q896+ has a 1080p screen. I'm not sure if there is a G73 with 1080p screen (I'm probably wrong).
There already are Sandy Bridge Qosmios hitting the market. They have been spotted at Sears.com

I would say for the $1400-1600 market, your best bets are the G73 or Qosmio. Anything lower (sub $1300), Qosmio has the best specs.
The ASUS G73 has a good specs for a good price. If you are happy with it sounds like a good computer to buy. I think you'll be happy with whatever you decide.
Keep us updated. -
if you get the qosmio definitly get the i7 sandybridge, with the gtx 460 and 8gb if you are looking for 1600.00 price range.
the g73 is a really great laptop and imo better than the qosmio series as far as build quality and hardware quality. its a toss up -
I love my x505-896 the screen is bright after you do the new BIOS update. It is a really competent gamer and build qualit is great on the one that I bought. I got it on sale for $1,399.99 and they threw in a free 500 GB ext hard drive and free shipping too.
Looking for input on getting Qosmio / Gaming laptop
