I like this laptop but have some problems with the customization of it onthe toshiba website. I like the 2.4 processor, I will get the basic vista and upgrade to the 64-bit ultimate, I like the 2GB Ram, My problem comes when we have to choose the hard drives. I want to set up a RAID 1 configuration on it, I was wondering if it is possible to set up this with two seperate hard drives I would buy seperatally. If anyone has info on this please post. thanks. Also, when I install a fresh copy of vista and new hard drives am I going to run into problems with drivers and such?

No RAID in this unit that I can tell. I had dual 120GB drives when I got mine and there would appear to be no RAID functionality.

I really want the 7200 RPM in the laptop and they dont offer this choice in the config. Would it be possible to just install my own once I get the computer?

Are those dual drives setup as primary and secondary, so that one can install 2 different operating systems on 2 drives. and how much does 2 hard drives add to the weight as opposed to one drive.

I ordered it with dual hard drives just to be sure I'd have two SATA ports and not one, and then replaced the second one with a 250GB W. Digital drive with no issues.

Weight is almost a non-issue. My new 250GB is lighter than the 120GB that came out of it, and it weighs much less than a pound.

The way I set mine up was to put Vista and Linux on my first hard drive, and my swap file and data on my secondary. However, the BIOS allows booting from either drive.

Actually, I want to know if 2- 120GB hard drives weigh more than 1-250GB drive and approximately by how much. I am planning to get Toshiba A205 which I would be carrying around, so I'll prefer it not being light weight.

2x120GB weighs more than my 1x250GB, but that varies among different manufacturers. I don't know if a Toshiba 250GB would be heavier than my Western Digital 250GB, seeing as my Toshiba 120GB was heavier than my Western Digital 250GB.
