Hi all, this is my first post on here and I'm looking into buying a Toshiba Q892. I have some simple questions for you Q8xx owners...

Does the Q892 come with a backlit keyboard?

I've read that the screen is a bit glossy/reflecty, is it that bad compared to other laptops around $1000-1500?

Does this beast heat up too much thus making it a necessity to buy another cooling fan?

I am most interested in a gaming laptop, is this really one of the best gaming laptops for around $1000? Also I don't know too much about sandy bridge laptops but is it worth to spend the few extra hundred on one of those? As I stated I am really looking for the best gaming laptop for the money and I am looking for the cheapest budget.

    Thanks for the information guys.

The 892 does NOT have a LED-lit keyboard (BUT the 893 from Amazon does).

The 89X series does not get very hot. My 894 has NEVER gotten hotter than 69 Celsius; with intensive gaming and tabbing between programs all at once.

I think the screen looks great! Most reviews of the dim/reflective screen (which only affects the 896 and 898) were before the 2.90 BIOS which address that issue.

You can wait for the Sandy Bridge laptops. The SB Qosmios are already out (though most retailers are sold out).

    Good luck with your decision.

Thank you alex for the speedy reply... so really the only difference between the 892 and 893 is the LED-lit keyboard?

    Yup, that's the only difference
