After installing XP Pro, modules and required drivers/utilities, I no longer have a "hibernate" option upon shut down. Per the Power Control Panel, I still have hibernate function, just no button. Any ideas?

Hibernation isn't controlled through the shut down menu selection - that only has Stand-By, Shut Down, or Restart. You can control the Hibernation options through the Toshiba Power Management settings however.

cool, well it was there with XP home so I thought I overlooked something

Anyhoo, you can display the hibernate button by pressing the shift key when the shutdown menu appears

O.K. Make sure you've enabled your hibernate support. I've incuded a screen shot to show you where to go.

I just want to add some thought here. Thade, you may reinstall the WinsXp patch from the Toshiba provided DVD coming with the laptop. You want to select the reinstallation of the drivers in the first radio button once the interactive menu comes up. Then you look though a bunch of drivers. You should see this applet in the middle of the list. When you clicked it, on the right hand side, it reads something like "to prevent Windows XP problem."

Thanks, the "hotfix" on the Toshiba dvd worked great!
