It went out while typing however, the external monitor I have connected still works great. I was able to make it a "primary" monitor and continue on. What to do about the problem is my question? The laptop is only two years old and no service contract.

I am given to understand that the video card is incorporated into the mother board. Is my problem now that I need a new motherboard? Assuming me providing the labor, what does a new board cost???!! Would it be worth it as opposed to buying a new comp??

    ??What to do??

If an external screen works, it's more likely there's something wrong with the LCD itself. As a place to start you could check the cable connections. That don't cost anything.

Yes. It's probably sitting under the keyboard. How to? You're on your own there. I'm super familiar with Toshibas.

If a little help is needed with disassembly, check out this site:

Don't know if your exact model is listed, but it's worth a try. :D

Thank you however, given the symptom, before I go that extreme I would like to have a better idea of the problem.
