So, I have determined that it must be the RTC, or the CMOS battery. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this with this model/line.

Called tech support.... Yeah, they are spuchals. Anyway. I need opinions on this model, anyone have to replace this battery? id like to tear it down, and stick a multimeter on the batt, see if its flat.

Problem: Time does not keep when power is off/or with hardware when power is on. If i leave date and time properties open, it keeps ok time. Other than that. it jumps hours back. So my thoughts. Either this model doesnt switch the cmos over to system power when its on, or the RTC died. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the late reply, if I had seen the thread earlier, I would have written something. Anyway, try a BIOS update, as that might help. The CMOS battery may be about to go flat, but with some manufacturers, they ask you don't remove it, and send it to them, so they can fix, provided you are under a warranty.

Personally, I wouldn't risk having to deal with Toshiba's infamous tech support if you can do it yourself without destroying the laptop. Sticking a multimeter on the battery yourself sounds like a good plan, and they're not that expensive to replace. If you sent it in, that would take time, and time is money. ;)

    [Edit]
And um... I do not hold any responsibility for any damage that comes to your notebook. =X

I have this exact same laptop and I have no problems with the time. Have you upgraded any software or anything recently?

Its not a software issue, I was hesatant on a BIOS flash. Does anyone have the Disasembly manuals for this model? As it is under warr, but I cant be without my laptop. Or can I afford to drive 700 miles to get it fixed. And if its something stupid like a flat CMOS batt and this main boad requires a fresh one, I am all for doing it myself.
