It seems the M30-YSJ model has been discontinued. It's no longer listed at Futureshop's website. It had also been listed at ATIC.CA (http://atic.ca/index.php?page=showall&man=13&cat=55&PHPSESSID=5be16192bdcdeb181461f2894573322b)
but only shows if you select the "show discontinued items" link. Unfortunately this is the only model with the TruBrite screen here in Canada. I hope it's being replaced with a new model (one that solves the heat issues). Are you guys in the states finding the m35 also disappearing? That would explain the rebate being offered. You only get rebates on items that they need to clear out because they're discontinuing it.

It looks like it is discontinued, it also indicates this on the Satples website:
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=89%2C90%2C91,453&webid=575599&affixedcode=WW
It's listed as a clearence item, so you may be able to get it from a local Staples store (sold out online). Since this was a Special Edition, I'm sure they're gonna release a new model soon. Or at least after they sell off the M30-710 models that people stopped buying after the YSJ came out.

TruBrite is Toshiba's name for their enhanced LCD's. HP, Sony, Fujitsu and other brands are using similar technology, all with different names of course. These LCD's are brighter by approx 25% and have a high gloss (mirror like) finish. This allows all the colors to become more vibrant, the blacks are darker & the whites brighter. All this is done without much of an additional power drain on the battery. It's mainly designed for watching DVD's, but some people say it's just plain better for everyday use. The one drawback is the mirror like finish, it causes a lot of glare.
IMO, Windows XP is way better than W2K. More hardware support and better PnP support as well.
