I'm trying to resurrect my M35X and disassembled it to clean out the fan, probably shouldn't have of course.

One question about reassembly - when attaching the LCD there is a data cable that has a multi-pin connector. Reconnecting this data cable is no problem.

Splitting off the data cable is a single, thin wire with an eyelet, about 1/2 way down the length of the data cable. I can't figure out where this goes.

I DID NOT specifically disconnect this thin wire, so that eyelet was attached somewhere that was unscrewed when I took the case apart. But where?

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Laptop boots up it seems but no display and it shuts off after about 10 seconds. My guess is that this eyelet wire is some sort of grounding wire.

    Thanks.
