Bought the wife an M35X. Fresh OS install from original disk.

After a few minutes of running some keys wont work then it just wants to type zzzzzzzzz s to infinity.

    Swapped keypads ...same thing.

I noticed one side of the plastic clip holding the key pad ribbon has a broken snap and doesn't secure the ribbon cable well. I'm thinking this is the issue however I secured a small metal holder to the wireless cover screw to keep it in place and got the same results.

    2 questions
Is there another (motherboard issue?) or other I'm not aware of on this model that could be my culprit?
Where the hec do I buy that stinking plastic clip?

    Thanks in advance
    Bob

its unlikely that the clip is causing the issues. the cable lock can partially break (the hook on either side can break off) but it will still lock the cable correctly and the kb will work without fail.

try booting into a DOS environment to determine if the issue is OS related. if you can usse the kb correctly in DOS for extended periods of time, then its safe to say the issue is OS related.

As far as motherboard issues, i know of no known KB issue with the M35X. having worked on atleast 150+ of this model, I have never encountered one with a kb issue that turned out to be the motherboard.
