Hello! First post to forum, nice to find ya'll. I've been ill for 3 weeks so please be patient as I'm still not very clear-headed.
I just bought this laptop on sale at Circuit City $999. including rebate. The first time I've turned it on and bam a problem already [ :(]
Called tech support but no help; suggestion was to return it to store and have salesperson look at it. Aggravating because I live 40 miles away, but most of all I'm tired of buying products that don't work and also tired of forgein language tech support.
The problem is that I start it up and when I get to the screen that ask how many users, I enter 1. my name 2. friend and it gets stuck there. It will go back to previous page but won't go to next. Both & Next are lit up in green. (tech asked if Next was grayed out).
Please help or just tell me what the problem is if you know. Not only am I anxious to begin using it (haven't wanted a laptop for so long) but I'm stuck in the house not being about to visit family on Christmas Day.
    Thanks!

One program I suggest anyone with a computer uses is called memtest86. Find a computer that works, download the program, and make put it on a floppy or cdrom. Now boot your new computer with it, and let it run for as long as you can allow (plugged in of course). This will test every single part of the ram in your machine, and makes it easy to know if you have problems in that area. I would suggest you doing this.

I would also reccomend you run the restore CD and reload everything onto the computer. They may have had a glitch loading on the computers software and messed something up. Your restore CD should make any software problems right, and if it was software related, your problems should go away.

Let us know how it goes.

I've had that problem before, all I did was reinstall the OS and everything was working fine again. I don't know what happens; but, all I remember is that was one of the most annoying things. It was like the processor wouldn't respond. Try reinstalling the OS; it worked for me! [ ;)]

Windows - The operating system that runs the world.

Toshiba - Quality, price, and features!

I swapped out the laptop at the store; made sure it worked before bringing it home. So far so good...haven't got to the wireless part yet! Haven't had time to do much.
I'll d/l the memtest. Thanks for your input!
