I can't be sure about your problem, but my M40 is the second unit, I had to return the first one, because the graphic card was defective for sure, I couldn't run anything right. And I did have random errors, and the same infinite loop errors too.

If you have problems with your games, out-of-the-box, I'd say your graphic card is also defective, and if it is, I'm afraid you'll have to return it to the store, if possible, or otherwise, deal with Toshiba's unfriendly tech support (I tried calling them for my first unit, and they tipped me to return it to the store if possible, becuase otheriwse I'd have to send it to Toshiba, and hope they'd recognize this problem as valid. the rep told me that anything that's not preinstalled software is not really supported by Toshiba's policy, wow!)

About the BIOS, I don't know either.

    Hey guys

Thanks for the responses. Anyways the laptop seems to be running fine and i play games just as well (ive installed all 3 MOH games, pacific assault, doom3, and farcry and they all run very very smoothly). However when i try to use a N64 emulator (pj64) it locks up. Some have said it could me the memory but i checked that and all is good. The lappy works fine, no noises with the ac plugged in, no lock ups, (yet to try the wireless), and overall seems to be running very well, just this one little snag ive hit.

Also i think the infinite loop prob is a nvidia driver problem which im hoping the new 71.84 drivers will solve, will let you guys know how it runs after i install them.

    Cheers

Ah, okay, the way you were describing the problem, it seemed to be generalized. In my case, I couldn't run any game.

If the problem is limited to the N64 emulator, it's possible the emulator is the cause of the problem. Does this work in any other system? These emulators are not guaranteed to run 100% error free.

Well, from the looks of your error "infinite loop", that should give a bit of a hint on why the system locked completely. It's like if you were driving from point A to point B, but the road between the 2 points never ends, you'll never get to you destination. It's the same as this, the command/call is stuck in a loop without a destination/exit. This sounds like possibly bad programming or an incompatibility with the video drivers. If it works on your desktop then it's localized to the notebook. A possibility would be a driver/software upgrade. You may also want to check to see if any other NVidia utilities are running that may cause a conflict. Try unloading them from memory (active processes) and see if it helps.
