When there's a bright object (like a window) on my LCD that remains static for awhile then suddenly turns black (when you close a window to a black background) there's a red shadow (ghost or silhouette) of that object gets left behind but fades out evnetually.

    Is this normal?

    Thanks

Do you have your screen set to shut off when your notebook is in its screen-saver mode? If you do, your computer could be shutting its screen on and off every 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. (what ever you might have the power-settings set at), which could be causing the ghosting. Check the Toshiba Power Pannel and see how long your noteook's screen is set to shut off for.

Well, if it's happening while it's on, I'd say you might have a defective screen. Where and when did you buy your laptop? And is it still with its complementary 1-year warranty period with Toshiba?

I got my laptop from ToshibaDirect last Nov. 14. So yes...it's still under warranty. My screen is a WSXGA+ (1680x1050)

I tracked the delivery of my unit and it originated from Shanghai. And looking at the model label it says Made in China.

    Sigh. I'll send it back.

That sucks - are you going to re-order the Toshiba or get a different notebook?

I'll have them repair the screen. I'll see if they'll agree to let me use the laptop while waiting for a replacement screen.
