I'm interested in buying this laptop but need some expert advice if possible.

    Here are the specs:

    * 512MB DDR2 SDRAM for multitasking power, expandable to 2GB; 533MHz frontside bus, 2MB L2 cache and 1.73GHz processor speed

    * Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media; also supports DVD-RAM

    15.4" active-matrix TFT-LCD widescreen display with TruBrite technology and 1280 x 800 resolution

100GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm)

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with 8-128MB dynamically shared video memory; SRS TruSurround XT and SRS WOW audio enhancements

Express Media Player with CD/DVD launch and control buttons, including play, stop and next/previous track

6-in-1 bridge media adapter supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, SmartMedia and xD-Picture Card

i.LINK (IEEE 1394) port and 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports for fast digital video, audio and data transfer

    Built-in Marvell 10Base-T/100Base Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 connector; V.92 high-speed modem

Weighs 6.1 lbs. and measures 1.1" thin for portable power; lithium-ion battery and AC adapter

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operating system preinstalled; software package included with InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 Platinum, Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, Sonic Solutions RecordNow! Basic and more

The price is $1,249.99 checked best buy, compusa, office depot they all have similiar pricing

Wal -Mart has a very similiar model M45-S2692 it has virtually the same specs but it has 20 gig less than M45-S269. The price is $996.00

Any help would be appreciated as this is my first purchase of a laptop.

I think its a good deal if you don't want a notebook that can game. If you want a notebook that can game, customize an M40 (the same thing as the M45, except customizable) on Toshiba's website, and stick in a 6600 Go card in it.

Its good deal..check the RAM speed whether its 533Mhz or not...in M45-s269 its 533Mhz matching the processor FSB..

Only concern is the build quality of satellite is not too great the chasis looks cheap.
