I purchased an M645-4118X from Newegg earlier this year and have started to notice some screen flicker. The only time it is noticeable is when something has mostly dark colors (such as a full screen picture or a dark background). It does not make it impossible to read and the screen does not actually go out, but it's more like a rippling effect. Google searches have yielded little results, other than those where an entire portion of the screen goes dark and cannot be viewed.

Any thoughts? I will try to take video of this and update later.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to effectively capture this on video. It does not happen all the time, but is most prevalent when there is a dark color on most of the screen.

Could be a loose or failing inverter.

Since it's under warranty, I would give Toshiba a call.

Well, Toshiba's fix was to replace the hard drive. Meanwhile, I still have screen flicker and would be without my computer for another three weeks. Maybe I'll find a local shop who can do this and pay them for the repair and not buy another Toshiba.

Sorry to hear that. Try to get a video of it [or a picture] so we can better diagnose it.

As for Toshiba, just keep bugging them and maybe "help" point them in the correct direction once we are able to diagnose it.

    Good luck
