So I was trying to figure out how to clean the LCD on Toshiba's M65 machine. Basically, I found four ways to safely do it:

    1. Water
    2. Vinegar and water
    3. Official LCD cleaning products
    4. Isopropyhl alcohol

I had a couple of grease marks on it, so going with water was pretty pointless. I decided to try the vinegar and water solution. At first, it scared me to see how the brand new screen had hideous stains on it, but eventually it dried out and everything was OK.

I went out and bought isopropyhl (I can never spell that correctly) alcohol and gave it a shot. It was much better than the vinegar solution and gave slightly better results.

In both cases, there were small traces of grease left but it wasn't noticeable even when viewed from different angles. However, I wasn't convinced. So I decided to call up tech support and ask what the "official Toshiba way of cleaning is", which is something I should have done in the beginning but didn't since it involved an international phone call for me.

A very nice lady told me to spray regular Windex-type products on a cloth and gently wipe the screen clean. Windex-type stuff has ammonia, which I thought was a huge no-no in LCDs. I asked if she was shure that we were talking about notebook LCD screens and she said yes.

I haven't tried this yet because, quite frankly, I'm scared of putting ammonia on my baby. How does everyone else clean theirs? Is it actually a good idea to use products that contain ammonia on Toshiba's LCDs? Are there any alternative methods to leave the screen completely clear of marks?

    Thanks!

Oh there is this stuff called "Endust". I love it! I even use a plain paper towel to use it on my screen. When all done, it even gives it a look of a very sleek gloss. I love it! You can even use it on the rest of the lappy. Its made so it doesnt move so it doesnt damage anything it could get into. My 2 cents. :)

Oh, and the tech support lady also said not to use any paper products on the screen. Seriously.

My main problem is that I don't live in the US, so access to that kind of products is very restricted. Well, it's restricted to whatever is available; and it's not much. Even if you find something good, it's usually expensive. And I need that money for sex. Ok, that last part was stupid.

Anyway... I was kind of hopeing that I can get a good solution from regular household products. Or get approval from everyone here who has successfully used Windex-type products on their screens.

i use my eyeglass cleaner solution, along with my soft eyeglass cloth. works everytime. in the manual though, it says that you can use window cleaner. look through the "Care and Maintenance" section of your manual, i think thats what its called.

On a side note, this question has been asked and answered countless times. The search function will reveal much information.

I did search and also browsed the related topics. However, I decided to make the thread because not every manufacturer recommends products with ammonia in them. That's kinda like the main point in the thread.

I guess Big B's observation is on target, considering his avatar is similar to my laptop.
