My girlfriend recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Model no.P5AA8A-O5R010.

She turned it on the other day and the XP bar starts and then suddenly blue screen of death with the following [relative] information:

"Plug and Play detected an error most likely caused by a faulty driver"

    Stop: 0x000000CA (0X00000002, etc, etc

She hasn't installed/uninstalled anything, so we can't seem to understand it. I went into BIOS set everything to default, still the same problem.

Safe Mode/last known configuration/etc all don't work, same error.
Was just hoping it was an easy fix instead of sending it away for weeks to get it repaired..

    Could anyone help us out?

    Thanks in advance!

    Toby

I can't find anything on the net pertaining to your specific issue, and since you've already booted into safe mode and attempted to fix it that way, I might tentatively recommend a clean install of XP with the recovery discs unless other forum members have other suggestions

PS; does anyone know what drivers XP loads in safe mode?

Unless you have a way of getting the data you wish to save off the drive (such as an external case and another pc) then re-installing windows will format the drive and unfortunately all tha data will be lost.

Toshiba will most likely destroy any existing data on the drive and reformat the HD - I would definitely back up any valuable data before sending it into Toshiba.
