I recently got a very good deal on a Satellite L25-S119. The only catch is that it came with 256MB DDR2 SDRAM. I know that I need to upgrade and the sooner the better. I am thinking of going up to 1GB but, as I understand it, if my notebook is dual channel I should get two identical 512MB. If my notebook is single channel than, once again as I understand it, I would be alright to save a couple bucks and get a single 1GB. I guess what I am asking is: How do I find out if my notebook is dual or single channel? and if it is in fact single channel is it alright to save a couple of bucks and get a single 1GB instead of identical 512MB? Thank you in advance!

The important thing is to get more memory. Dual channel is slightly faster. I don't think it is dual channel anyway since it is a Celeron.

If you want to find out, use CPU-Z. On the Memory page, it has "Channels#" on the right hand side.
