    Hi everyone,

I'm new and I'm sorry for not introducing myself correctly but I have a huge problem. My Toshiba A70 was overheating, so I opened it up to clean the heat-sink. After I did this, the computer no longer shut off like it was, but now the LCD is really messed up.

It started with a slightly lighter strip near the center of the lcd that was a little annoying. I discovered that if I applied pressure to the top of the LCD the image would completely clear up. The strip became darker, and now it is about two thirds of the monitor.

The left third of the LCD screen is absolutely perfect, but the other part is now completely black. Please help, I have no idea what to do. I assumed it was some loose wires or something (since the problem is fixed with a simple added pressure) but it's growing now, so I'm not sure.

    Thank you,
    Paulo

Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor and see if this problem is displayed on the external monitor.

If it isn't - then clearly it's a problem with your screen. Pressure applied to the LCD is never a good thing and is known to cause lines - sometimes refered to as tab seperation.

If you indeed need a new screen, see if http://www.lcdscreen.com has your screen. They seem to have some of the best prices.

    Good luck.
