    Monitor flikering and resetting !

    I have a Toshiba A200 laptop with HD 2600 vga. I hooked a 20 inch acer monitor few days back and i see horizontal lines moving up and down (mostly visible in black bacgrounds. And also the monitor keeps resetting ( goes off for a sec and come back) once in a while.I have tried running on extended monitor and all the options in vista. When i play call of duty 4 on 1280 x 800 if the monitor resets the res on windows which was on 1600 x 900 also resets to 1280 x 800. Please need help.
