On a Satellite 1955 S803 running XP Home, I have a weird mouse problem. Sometimes when the mouse pointer passes over an icon or link, it opens the program (without clicking the mouse button). Also when typing in a word processor, sometimes the cursor jumps to the top of the page or up a few lines, and sometimes a whole block of text gets highlighted. I thought that maybe it was a setting somewhere, but I've checked everything I can think of. I also thought maybe I was accidently activating a hot key or something, but I don't think so. This is really frustrating as I type a lot of reports.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

It sounds a lot like the touchpad is losing your finger tracking, then re-finding it and making it act as if it was a double click. You might have a bad tracking pad. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for it?

Yes, this has happened to me before. This happens because Toshiba incorporates a mouse driver that enables you to tap on the mouse which will open applications instead of clicking on them. If there is an appication called Toshiba Touch and Launch; disable this. This will turn off all special mouse features like, mouse tapping, and from the cursor sudden;y moving in Microsoft Word or any other word processor. Hope this helps!

i can't find any application called Toshiba Touch and Launch, and where would the drivers for the touchpad be located?
Under Windows Device Manager all I have is a PS/2 mouse.
Thanks. -
You might want to check the Control Panel, if it's not listed there then just goto the Mouse option and your settings should be adjustable there.

Nothing in Control Panel, under mouse settings, the only tab that has anything to do with the touchpad is one to turn the touchpad on/off.
I'm stumped, there must be some drivers for this thing some place, no?
Thanks again for any help.
