OK, this is tough. Media express was working fine until I re-labeled the C drive (it was a long numer) and split my drive into 2 partitions. At the moment, I am still using the pre-installed version of Win so no changes there.

After making these changes, Express media still works fine BUT when I shut down the computer, it will not boot up propery (no video) unless I unplug the battery, then all is well.

I changed my partitions back to a single drive: no luck
    Reinstalled Express Media: No luck

So here's one theory. Maybe the old C drive label is referenced somehow wih Media Player and it doesn't reboot properly because I changed the label??

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Hmm....

Sounds like the partition messed up your notebook. You might try system restore if you've got that on your drive. Otherwise, the dreaded re-install.

    Hey Thade,

I think I experienced the similar problem and was told by the tech support to resolve it. Here what you may try. Unplug everything that is batt, A/C, hold down the power button (on the top left corner) for about 30 sec, plug the A/C or batt back in, turn the system on again, and then your lappy should boot now. This process releases the static electricity remaining on the system.

Personally, I think this series has some undetected issues and need to be addressed by Toshiba though. Anyway, please let us know if this help.

Thanks for the replies. At least I'm not alone. I haven't tried powering with battery out...yet. For now, I have moved on, made an image of base install & intsalled XP Pro. I split the partion again and now Media Express doesn't start and doesn't install. Eventually, I'll get back to. Please keep me posted on any possible solutions. Bummer cause it's a nice feature.

BTW, much snappier with a clean copy of pro minus all the Toshiba bloat.

OK, update...I wasn't able to "overwrite existing installation" but uninstalling/reinstalling did the trick. I still have to pull the battery after using EM but at last it works...

Could you tell me how you made an image (or backup) of your hard drive? I failed with Ghost 2003 and Acronis 8. For the Ghost 2003, it messed up with my PC's partition and became unbootable. I read a number of users having the same problem (ie. locking at boot stage) when using Ghost 2003. Some said Ghost may not be compatible with the new SATA HD.
