Here are some pics of the new netbook Picasa Web Albums - Matt - Toshiba T115D...

Please excuse the quality. I am no photographer.

I have to say that so far I am very impressed with the little netbook. I got if for $390 shipped from CompUSA after 12.5% bing cashback. I am used to using a 15" 2.2 GHz Macbook Pro. So this 11.6" screen took some getting used to but I really like it. Windows 7 is also great!

I was looking to buy a standard 10" netbook but wanted HD video capabilites and did not want Windows 7 Starter. I wanted Media Center. For $390 this is a great deal because there are some standard Atom netbooks for $350 to $400 that offer no HD video capabilities or 720p resolution. I almost bought an Acer One 10" but I knew it would leave me wanting. So I decided to spend the extra money and get the Toshiba.

I moved some MP4 and M4V files over from the Mac and am using VLC to play them perfectly.

It is absolutely a fingerprint magnet. The outer case is super high gloss and collects prints like nothing I have had before. However, it really doesn't bother me at all.

The trackpad has a nice textured feel to it. I can't seem to get the scrolling to work just right, but it is likely some type of adjustment that I need to make.

The netbook is very snappy. I am going to upgrade to the 4GB of RAM but for now the 2GB are doing just fine.

After the first full charge, I used the netbook for about 4 hours and still had over 40% battery life left. Had brightness on 6/8 and mainly surfing the web, downloading programs and transferring files.

I am an adult male and the keyboard is a perfect size. I can type on it without any problems. It does have a small amount of flex if you press in on the keyboard with a good bit of pressure but for normal typing it does well.

The netbook does get warm while in the lap but not unbearable. The fan does run quite often but is very quite.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them as best a possible. I hope to post a video on YouTube soon.

Nice impressions and pics OP.

If you think that's a fingerprint magnet you haven't seen the series before that called the fusion finish with the glossy lid, glossy keyboard, glossy palm rest etc. Now that's a fingerprint magnet. It looks beautiful but talk about a fingerprint and smudge magnet.

I own a Toshiba A355 and i'm afraid to go near the thing without rubber surgical gloves, LOL. Fortunately Toshiba included a microfiber cloth that easily removes all fingerprints and smudges. :p

edit: I forgot to mention I played with the 13.3" version of this at Office Depot and I too had issues with the trackpad. It was unresponsive at times due to the textured paint. Nothing will fix it other than using a notebook mouse. I would recommend to the OP that he look at the Logitech Notebook mouse. They are small and accurate and have a great feel to them.

looking at that case, I'm thinking a rub-down with steel wool may be called for, or possibly a hit with BBQ black spray paint (which would fix the logo issue as well). I'm not even a fan of fingerprints on my thinpads. It looks to be quite a deal - better features than a Thinkpad x100e at $100 less.
