I just bought a Toshiba Satellite M305 notebook about 3 weeks ago and I am having problems with it already, and I'm hoping someone can help me out.
Here's what I've been having issues with:
1) Nearly every time I get online, an error message pops up that says "internet explorer cannot open the internet site ___. operation aborted." I've messed with security settings and done everything I can think of to fix it, but nothing has worked. I found that when I refresh the page, it loads fine. It's just annoying that I have to close out the box and refresh the page every time.
2) A few times now, my internet page has frozen or gone really slow and then it's stops typing correctly...twice I have been on facebook chatting with a friend when all of a sudden it's like my keyboard freezes up and won't type a letter until i press it several times. I have norton anti-virus 360 (the trial subscription that came with it)...could this have something to do with it? I also have wireless broadband so the connection is good.
3) The notebook takes a looong time to start up...I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I can live with it, but it's a pain. When I turn it on, a welcome page loads, and then the screen goes black for a few minutes and it doesn't (appear to) do anything. Finally after 3-5 minutes it turns on.
I love my notebook other than these issues, so I don't know what to do. I need it for school too, so I'm not sure whether to return this one now or take it to a computer shop or something....maybe you can help? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so much.

Open up internet explorer>go to Tools>Internet options>Advance>Reset Internet explorer Setting. Try this first to fix your internet problem. As far as the slow power up and sluggish performance.......It's gotta be your anti virus program.. Uninstall the one that came with your laptop and download a new one at WWW.AVAST.COM. It's free for home users and does not bog down your proccessors. Also run CCleaner to clean all the crap that is hiding in your harddrive.

It sounds like you could have had viruses or something, but seeing that you have Norton installed, that is probably the reason why your computer is so sluggish. Uninstall that resource hogging Norton and install something good like Avast (the Home edition is free). That will probably speed up your laptop and add better virus detection at the same time.

Thank you both for your help! I tried what you said, and I uninstalled Norton and installed avast instead. So far I haven't been having any problems with it anymore, so that seemed to do the trick. Thanks so much!!
