Hi everyone since this is my first time posting thanks for reading this. I was hoping to see if everyone would be interested in reading the problem im going through.
Last week i bought a brand new satellite notebook the M115-S3094 at compusa, even when the rebate was on it. well, next thing you know, after i opened the box, I noticed unusual things. Main part is the button to open the laptop. It seemed that everytime i tried to open the laptop, the little button seemed to be kind of stuck or felt like it was jammed. I had so much trouble opening the laptop ever since i bought it. since it felt so stuck or something
Finally, today when i tried opening it, all of a sudden, the button just popped out while I was trying to open the laptop, I was shocked... Now my deep fear is that I didn't purchased a warranty from the store BUT its only been seven days since i bought my laptop and I have my reciept. my question is, do you guys think I may have a chance to return my defective laptop tomorrow?
On a side note, not to exagerrate, on the bottom of the laptop, I noticed a tear of the Microsoft seal in the middle...
Hope to hear positive posts... please help, thanks

On the bright side, at least the problem is cosmetic, not some stupid mechanical issue.

I wouldnt worry too much, just cal up toshiba and ask them. Or cant you just go back to the store and return/exchange it? Thats what I did for my macbook, bought it, used it for a week, didnt like it so I returned it.

Generally return policies on notebooks are flexible. Glad to hear the problem's been taken care of.

Yea I guess, I tought it was going to be real hard since it is a laptop and any little thing that happens to it could be real expensive. I was kind of worried at first, but now I can be calmed for the fact that they were nice about it. What was great about is that where i bought it, they were out of stock. so, they sended me to another compusa retail store to exchange it over there. Pretty neat..

Yup, I really do like it, alot. Toshiba is one of the world's most leading brand in mobile technology with computer laptops. No matter what the price was, the Toshiba label is what makes the pc good. Even though my pc camed defective, I still wanted it replaced for the same one. Shipments sometimes make mistakes I guess. Or, maybe the button to open the laptop was unproperly put on on the laptop without purpose.

Oh really, It never camed to my attention that it was an authentic thing that was done with the laptops to come teared off the middle. So that means that any pc without the tear could come with a stolen microsoft or something?

By the way, sorry to change the subject, I made this post on the thread but no one seems to notice it. Sorry if this is wrong. Im having a little buzzy sound when my laptop is processing, such as when the third light flashes when im going through my documents or going to websites. I know that after like the first time i turned my laptop on, I wasnt noticing this sound until the second time i use my laptop. Is this normal?

Mine has the same tear. Making the certificate so flimsy is really dumb. I am thinking about putting some clear plastic over it (the type with sealant on one side). At the very least I'm going to take some photos of it so I don't loose the key (I know you can use software to check it too but I've found that isn't always reliable).

I've got the same laptop and I'm happy so far. I noticed one of my hinges popped open on the right side and the display tends to move back and forth a little bit without adjusting the display up or down. So I don't like the hinges too much -- very cheap compared to a ThinkPad. But it's a lot cheaper and more powerful plus a neat screen so I can live with it. I'm even getting used to the butchered keyboard!

Can you describe the "buzzy sound" a little more in detail? Does it sound like anything in particular? And are you on battery power?

Also, that Microsoft label tearing is a little disturbing. I guess they're trying to stop you from being able to take it off and put in something else? Not the best if you lose the ability to read the key though.

soemtimes you can't notice it if your in a noisy location. If your in a silent location, you can hear it will like smaller version of a desktop. Sometimes, you can notice it by putting your ear next to the indicating lights, especially when the computer is processing. Try it and let me know what you find out,

Well the buzzy noise is small.. It is like how a desktop computer sounds when it's processing. The noise is real small and not noticed when your in a noisy location. Is this perfectly normal or am i just overreacting?

Sounds normal to me. The third light is probably your HD access LED. You're hearing the HD being accessed.

I'm going to merge the other thread on this topic with this one...

The sound is very good on mine. The level is very low without the WoW software that enhances the sound. Compared to an old Dell laptop I had the electrical noise on the audio is non-existent. Sound is good in my book.
