I have a X200 with 8700GT 512mb and was wondering how much more powerful the dooly 8600s are. Also do they plan to release a 8800 version gpu for these beasts? I actually really like the keyboard on mine, I am growing more fond of the machine as time goes by. I also have a Dell XPS 1710 with Red lid which is also a nice lappy.

SLI is the future, that's the way to go. That's where you'll see improvements with Vista Service Packs. SP1 is just the beginning. =)

It depends on the game... some are a little faster, others are quite a bit faster... I would rather have a single faster GPU than two slightly slower ones, as it just adds another layer of complexity, but in the X205 SLI's, they do run noticabley quicker than the single 8700.... I'd still much prefer an 8800gtx though :) Search for the SLi3 review, it has some numbers in it, and the SLI performance has improved a bit since that review with newer drivers.
