I purchased my M40 from costco, when i turned it on for the first time it gave me an error message, now it says "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windowssystem32configSYSTEM"
Very dissapointed with this.
1)Do i have to reinstall everything again from the recovery disk?
2)If so then which Toshiba preloaded programs are worth installing and which ones can i leave out?
3)IF reinstalling everything again do I have to reformat the hard drive, if so how do i go about doing that?
I am a novice when it comes to computers, this is my first notebook computer, I have a desktop also. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It's prett weird that a factory pre-installed computer displays this error. Most likely there is a hardware failure.
However, if you wish to try a reinstall, you can simply insert the Toshiba Recovery CD and follow instructions, it'll simply wipe the hard drive and recover the default system, no extra step is required.
Doing this should bring the computer back ot the state it is when you purchase it. In your case, in a working state, hopefully.
