The 80GB HDD in my P35 just crashed after 18 months, and I would like to replace it with a more reliable, larger and faster drive. The Toshiba Website says that hard drive is user-serviceable, but they provide no instructions on how to service it. I suspect it's a simple matter of removing the RH plate (looking at the bottom), and unplugging the drive. Does anyone have any tips about HDD replacement in this model?

I've narrowed my selection field down to a 100 or 120GB EIDE/Ultra ATA drive, at 5400 or 7200 RPM, from Seagate, Hitachi or Western Digital. Does anyone have insights that will help me make a choice?

The hard drive is shown on the right side (big silver plate with rows of dots) :D
Before you can access the hard drive, you have to remove the plastic cover. After the cover is removed, slide the hard drive to the right to disconnect it from the motherboard and lift it up. Now you can replace it.
