My wife just got a new Toshiba E205 from Best Buy, and I am trying to help her identifying and get rid of the bloatware. Already downloaded PC Decrapifier and got rid of the obvious ones like Best Buy Installer, and Norton Antivirus, but not sure of the others (I'm a Mac user).

Would really appreciate it if you help me identify the following functions, and which are keepers/not-keepers:

    Roxio Express Labeler
    Sonic update Manager
Atheros Communications Inc AR81 Family Gigabit/Fast Eternet Driver
Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system
    HDMI control manager
    Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
    Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader
    Roxio Burn
    Roxio Express Labeler 3
    Toshiba Application Installer
    Toshiba Assist
    Toshbia Bulletin Board
    Toshiba ConfigFree
    Toshiba DVD player
Toshiba Extended Tiles for Windows Mobility Center
    Toshiba Face Recognition
    Toshiba HDD/SDD alert
    Toshiba Hardware Setup
    Toshiba Media Controller
    Toshiba Quailty Application
    Toshiba ReelTime
    Toshiba Service Station
    Toshbia Speech System Applications
    Toshiba Speech System SR Engine
    Toshiba Speech System TTS
    Toshiba Supervisor Password
Toshiba USB Sleep and Charge Utility
    Toshiba Value Added Package
    Toshiba Web Camera Application
    Toshiba eco Utility
    ToshbiaRegistration
    Windows Live Essentials
    Windows Live Sign in Assistant
    Windows Live Synce
    Windows Live Upload Tool

Sorry if the list is too long! Appreciate any input.

Well, it depends, do you find any of that useful?

Good point because some of that stuff can be useful, depends on the user. OP don't forget to make a set of recovery discs before you go deleting stuff. :)

I just got a new Toshiba laptop, & had the same problem. My approach has been:
    1. Make recovery disks... vital step.
    2. Save the folder containing all the drivers / programs.
    3. Back up your activation information for Win7
    4. Clean install.
    5. Install drivers.
    6. Install programs you need. I installed the following:
    Toshiba HDD/SDD alert
Toshiba Value Added Package (minus zooming utility)
    Toshiba eco Utility
    Toshiba Disk Creator
    PC Health Monitor
    HDD Protection

Most of the rest is not necessary, even some of what I installed you can do without.
I can't over stress the importance of the first 2 steps.

Thanks for the input. Bottom line is that I am hoping to figure out which programs are redundant (ie delete ones with functions already covered by Windows). Forgive my Windows ignorance but do I need all those "Windows Live" apps?

I already created the recovery disks using Toshiba Disk Creator. The Toshiba laptop did NOT come with a copy of Windows 7, so I am assuming I can't do a clean install?

Overall though I am impressed with the laptop and especially Windows 7 OS.

You don't need all the Windows Live apps... I agree.
The Windows 7 threads have links to where you can download Win7 to make a disk, but it isn't essential. Just uninstall what you don't want.
