Hello All,
I am having trouble with my new laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite X205-S9359 w/ an Nvidia Geforce 8700M GT graphics card. I have searched numerous forums, high and low for a solution and have applied just about everything suggested and I still can't get Battlefield 2 to run. The initial title screen appears and after a few seconds the game boots out to the desktop. I have updated the game to the latest version and have updated my video card to the latest driver 163.44 (with the Modded INF). I have heard some say that the problem is that my moniters refresh rate is restricted to 59hz and needs to be at least 60hz to run the game, but I'm not sure how to fix that since I've updated my graphics card. PLEASE HELP!!! I don't know what else to do.
Thanks
Tee

I just saw a post on this and the fix was in there, let me look for it...might have been in another forum. -
Thanks for your reply, the info you directed me to was very helpful. So far it hasn't worked for me, but I think that it has to do with my monitor only supporting 59hz and nothing else. Oh well, thanks again

OV10stang,
I noticed that you have the same computer I have and I take it that you are able to run B2 on your laptop. If I am correct, How did you do it? I would assume are spec are exactely the same in particular to the refresh rate. -

I tried to play the demo and got the same error. Im not to happy with my X205-S9359 so far. My cousin bought a HP laptop the same time as i bought my x205 and he dosent have these problems. This really ticks me off because he paid $1500 for his and I paid $2300. He installed the 2142 demo and it played right of the bat, no problems. We have be playing co-op Rainbow Six Las Vegas and I will get a sound loop or sometimes it will just close the program but he never has any of these problems. I also tried to install the BioShock demo but it would never install. Also some things take forever to load. When i tried installing the 2142 demo I double clicked to run and it took about 5 min. before the setup screen appeared. I wish I knew what the problem was. Anyway, this is my 1st and probably my last Toshiba laptop that I will buy.

The two most prevalent solutions are to either set the desktop resolution to the game resolution before launching the game, or to use a no-cd patch. Try those suggestions and see what is advised and linked in the other thread to see if you can get around the problem.
