Has anyone seen any negative reviews of the Qosmio X505-Q880 or Q890 laptops? I've looked everywhere and haven't been able to find anything. I know there's no such thing as the "perfect" laptop. If I'm going to spend nearly $2K on a laptop, I want to know if there's anything I need to look out for.

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!!!

    Thanks!

I have the 890 for a week now NO Problems so far. I can tell you one thing I had the Envy 17 for 19 days and sent it back before the 21 days were up. The HP runs hot and after getting the Q890 I have no regrets :)

From what I hear, the X505 is a pretty rock solid notebook. It definitely doesn't seem to have the throttling issues, downclocking issues, or GSOD issues (looking at you, Asus), that many other high end machines have.

The main concerns of mine would be of the screen, which is not that great, being quite dim, and the touchpad, which when I used in store, was noticeably laggy. This could probably be fixed with updated Synaptics drivers though. The only other worry would be of screen flex and hinge flex, as it is such a large machine. When I tested this in store, it definitely flexed a lot more than my G73 does, but it's a large machine, and not quite as bulky as the G73, so it's to be expected.

Overall, I think you made a good purchase. The sound system on those models is of quite good quality, considering they are notebook speakers, and there are definitely no model wide BIOS or hardware problems (unlike certain notebooks, looking at you again Asus).
