I've just bought the OpusArte blu-ray experience disc. I connected the PC to a Philips 42" TV with 1080p capability and the default resolution came up as 1920x1080. DVDs play without problems with the bundled Toshiba player and upscaling on.
I loaded the blu-ray disc and it started to play with the bundled Corel DVD player. Then every 3 or 4 seconds the sound interrupted - i.e. stopped and started again and the sound and vision are slightly out of sync. It's almost as if the sound is being taken off the disc in 'packets' and the joins are audible.
I can't really find any settings to change the audio - it's going through as 2-channel stereo.
If I change the resolution on the TV from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 it plays OK.
Playback on the PC without the TV connected is OK.
I don't know what resolution blu-rays are meant to play at, but the picture looks identical at both I've tried.
I've also noticed that the PC uses Intel Graphics all the time despite having an Nvidia card. I bought this particular laptop partly because it had discrete graphics, but now they don't seem to be used. I wonder if the processor isn't coping with the video and the audio?

Any help or ideas on this would be very welcome.
    Thanks.

If you have a i3/i5 chipset, then when on battery the laptop will prefer to use the integrated intel graphics (since lower power consumption).

I too tried the Bluray playback from my Toshiba Qosmio to my new 1080p Sony TV (via HDMI cable). When the movie came up, the sound would drop out and couldn't hear anything (also Coral Player).

I don't know the answer, but hope someone else on here does.
    THUS BUMP!!!
