Hi I currently have the 1.5 version bios installed on my A215-S7462 and am using Win XP Home for my operating system also I currently have no problems at all with my laptop right now. I was just wondering if i should flash to the new 1.7 version of the bios, are there any benefits to doing this now?
Thanks for your opinions

I have always been a firm believer that if you're not having a problem, don't flash the BIOS! Because what would be the point?
The change history on the Toshiba download site seems to suggest the update is mainly just to give support for the Vista SP1. Since you use XP I wouldn't bother. It does list that it fixes a few other problems... Blank screen & power management. If you don't have those problems either, forget about it.

I always keep my BIOS updated to the most current versions. Why? Because BIOS updates fix problems, just like any other update does. -
. No need for the attitude.
BIOS updates generally fix specific problems, which only occur under specific circumstances. If the fixes aren't applicable then it is just a waste of time & an uneeded risk.
In the OP's case I suggested that if the Change History fixes didn't apply to him, he not bother updating. Why? Because it would serve no purpose.
For the record, although it be rare, BIOS corruption due to flashing can be by other factors than power failure or installer error.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
It is addressing a specific problem. the A210/215 series has a problem with the units just shutting down and becoming unresponsive. the only way to get the machine back on is to reboot. toshiba has had this problem sinc e the A215 introduction.
toshiba prob had to rent out a stadium due to rtns from this one unit. bout time it is fixed....UPDATE your bios.
