Our new A505-S6965 is covered with various stickers, and we want to remove most if not all of them. What's the best way to remove them WITHOUT doing any damage to the shiny plastic, and still get all of the residue off so the surface is clean? Anybody have any good tips?
-
Well, i haven't removed even ONE! since on my last laptop I tried to carefully remove them, and had sticky spots after that. So... Im cool like it is right now lol
-
You could try 90% isopropyl alcohol, but before going to town use it on an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn't affect the plastic.
-
I don't like adding stuff like that since after a time you can see some difference.. ugly difference lol
-
Well, I got the two biggest and ugliest ones off without any issues or having to use any chemicals. Might just leave the rest on since they don't look THAT bad, and they look like the type that might give some problems. I have had bad luck in the past using cleaners on shiny plastic, so I'm naturally a little gun-shy about possibly messing the plastic up.

Why would you want to take off the Centrino and ATI Sticker? My laptop is a Centrino 2 platform laptop and I'm proud of it.
-
Mine doesn't have ATI sticker; I would like to have one though lol
-
Mine doesn't either. I wish it did though. It seems that the lower end cards get a sticker because all the laptop's I've seen that have a 3470 have had an ATI Premium Graphics Radeon 3470 Sticker.
-
Thats kinda dumb ??? We should be showing off the best!?!
-
I agree, although mine's only a 3650. My friends Acer Aspire 6930G has an NVIDIA 9600M GS 512MB GDDR3 sticker, but mine doesn't get one. Oh well, I could probably make my own. I know of someone who wanted a Core 2 Quad sticker so they made a sticky note and drew the logo on it. How's that for improvisation?

I removed my stickers by hand(all of them) and they went off nicely, a few sticky spots that I removed with re-applying the sticker again over the area with the spots and remove it again, the spots stay glued on the sticker(repeat it if necessary). No need for any additional cleansing agents.
BTW: I did all this immediately after I removed the stickers(I don't know(should be a bit of a problem) if it works when the sticky surface becomes dirty). -
A hairdryer to soften up the glue would help minimize the residue left behind. Then just take rubbing alcohol to finish off the rest or a hot towel.

Kind of like dying your hair...always try an inconspicuos area first.
I'd leave the stickers. No harm in keeping them there. -
I say remove any stickers that are easily removable (specs of system, etc), leave the rest.
