Hopefully someone buys one of these soon so we can get a mini review on them. I am really interested in finding out how easy it will be to upgrade the processor in these.

I saw the F55 at Best Buy this week. It has an excellent LG screen with good viewing angles. The sound was pretty good for notebook speakers. But the overall feel and typing on the plastic black keyboard felt pretty cheap and low quality. The plastic shiny chrome accents (looked white in the pictures but it's plastic chrome) and the shiny black plastic showed tons of fingerprints that made this laptop look like a notebook that was a couple of years old. It may have good specs, but the overall look and feel didn't appear to be that good. I will be checking out the Sony FW as an alternative.

One of the bestbuys close to my work had 4 in stock this past monday, but they wouldn't put one out on display due to them not having any laptop locks available. They told me to check back at the end of the week, too bad I can't check this week due to my carpool to work the rest of this week.

se92692, how bulky did it seem. Was it kind of large for a 15" or did it seem ok size wise.

I tried to lift it up a little to see how heavy it was but it was pretty much held down by the side clamps of the display. It seemed it would be a little heavier than a Dell XPS M1530 for sure. It looked a bit thicker for a 15 inch laptop compared to HP, Dell, etc. But overall, it wasn't an unreasonable size.

Just bought the F55-Q502 ($1399, ~$1500 with taxes) today at BEST BUY and I CAN'T BE ANY HAPPIER!

Taking it out of the box and looking at it's sleek and shiny surface... priceless! MWAHAHA! I'm still on the start-up stage but I'm already ecstatic! I picked 64-bit Vista (you can pick 32 or 64 bit at the first startup).

The laptop weighs 6.5 lbs, it weighs pretty similar to my 3-yr old laptop which is 6.3 lbs. I'm just hoping all my games/programs get installed without any problems.

I picked this laptop because of the awesome graphics card, montevina processor and harman-kardon speakers + subwoofer. I'm a game addict and a music lover so if you're the same as me, this laptop's gotta be one of your options.

hi searclaw, I too am interested in this laptop. Which bestbuy location did you buy it from? I may have a trip to Seattle if they have it down there.

EDIT: if you have a moment could you throw in some 3dmark06 benchmark? I'm very darn curious how this laptop perform :D

    Well, it seems the:
    • F55-Q02
    • X305-Q701
    • X305-Q702

Models are now on the Bestbuy website. Still no F55-Q03 though. Anyone know if you can get this in-store or if they just don't have it yet?

Also, the F55-Q02 is listed as being 'GPS Ready', but on the Toshiba website it says it comes with the Garmin mobile PC software, but is not listed on the Bestbuy website. So does it come with it or not?

YES! Finally made it to Best Buy and found some very key facts about this system.

I was only able to look at the 1400$ laptop and not the upgraded 1750$ laptop because the 1750$ was backordered, but I was still able to accomplish some key things.

    Vista Ratings:
    Processor: 5.0
    Memory: 5.8
    Graphics: 5.9
    Gaming Graphics: 5.9
    Primary Hard Disk: 5.5
(This is pretty sure what I remember when I looked at the ratings)

    GPS:
My second thing I wanted to find out was if it really had a GPS in it. My findings:
Yes, I would say if I am understanding this right that you will have a key code inside your box to type in to get GPS on your laptop.

    Lighting:
Yes, it does have lighting. White light around volume control, above mouse pad, on both sides of keyboard, and around speakers if I remember right.
Sorry for terrible pictures (taken with camera phone)

    Looks:
It looked good, but people weren’t kidding about the fingerprints. The keyboard, around the keyboard, and on the back of the system shows fingerprints. They can be rubbed off easily with towel or something, but they do exist.

    Build:
It seemed to be built very well. It is plastic frame, but it still felt to be decently well made.

    Overheating:
Since it was in Best Buy, I couldn't play any games on it or do any really big tasks, but for just sitting there and being on all day, it surprised me that it was actually really cool.

    Sound:
Didn't check sound quality because I was in Best Buy, but Harmon Karman I heard makes some good speakers so I highly doubt that the sound is going to be that bad at all.

    Overall:
I like the system, and this stop to Best Buy makes me think that my next laptop is going to be the F55-Q503 ($1750).

I am no expert at this, I just thought I would share my opinions of the system, so please, if you disagree, you are entitled to your opinion.

It means absolutely nothing, it doesn't do anything to rate your system for games and before you question that, spend 2 seconds and do some searching.

I just bought myself a Qosmio F55, you can pick them up at Bestbuy. The X305 is on sale for 1399. F55 is also priced at 1399. Good luck. It's such a nice laptop. Wow plays at around 50-115 fps. In the cities, the fps drops to 50-60 because of my addons and the slow processor.

Hey I'm going to best buy tomorrow to look at this laptop but I figure i would ask a question or two on these forums first because of the general lack of knowledge of most of the best buy sales associates.

The P7350 processor seems to be a mystery, did anyone see any information or bench marks on its performance that could be compared to the more notable new P series laptop? (ie P8400, P8600) And is it really so slow that it would bottle neck things aside from encoding and professional rendering?

Also anyone happen to know if the proccessor could be upgraded or if it is one of the soldered on models?

If these questions were answered elsewhere sorry for repeating them, I'm on vacation and havent had enough computer access to properly scour the forums for information.

Best Buy says it weighs 6.4 lbs but it says it's 8.1 lbs on the Toshiba website. Does anyone know how much it really weighs?

It's a very nice laptop indeed. However, the one main problem I noticed is that the touchpad seemed to be quite wide and I have a tendency to rest my palms on the palm-rest and it constantly caused the cursor to flip about the screen and screw up my typing b/c my palm kept hitting the touchpad.

Also, I don't understand why MFRs put an optical drive on the left side of the machine.

But the speakers are the best internal speakers in a notebook. I say this having an Asus M50sv-A1 w/ built in Altec Lansings that are horrible by comparison to the harmon/kardons.

I've seen all versions of the Qosmio laptops. They where all at my local BestBuy. They were extreamly nice, but very heavy.

This is the weirdest thing! Amazon says neither version is released yet, but clearly they both are. My local BestBuy had the lower end F55-Q502 in stock, but I had to show them their own website to convince them BB is carrying it at all, and only then did they look to see it was in stock. They don't have it on display at all and the monster X305 is in a cage so you can't actually get a good look at it at all. I want the Q503 but I'm getting frustrated that it's OUT but I can't FIND it.

I'd really appreciate a city location from anyone who has seen the Q503 ($1700 model) in their local Best Buy so I can use it as 'proof' to my store that it's being carried somewhere. Thanks so much!

I am also looking into buying the Q503 and when I went to Best Buy the other day I asked them if they had it and they said that they just got some new Qosmios in the back and went to check if they had the Q503. Turns out they did have it, but some how without it being on display, it ended up being backordered...

Me again, and I know this may seem to be a weird question but my local Best Buy team is not very educated about this product. They continue to claim that they are not currently nor are they ever going to CARRY the 503. They do have the 502 in stock. As has been said the 503 isn't on the BB website so they're telling me they aren't carrying it. Would someone who has seen it at Best Buy either

    A) Get the BB SKU for me (kind of a pain, I know) or
    B) Tell me the city it was seen in so I can call them myself and get the SKU.

Apparently the SKU is the only way they'll be able to find it. :( And I mean the Best Buy (usually 88#####) number, not the Toshiba model number.

Thanks so much! Sorry to be annoying.

So to those who have been to best buy and seen it, do you guys know how heavy (The F55-Q502 version) it is like in reality? I know Best Buy says 6.4 pounds but someone said it was a typo or they are just wrong. Thanks a lot.

I saw the F55-Q502 at Best Buy on 07/17 and impulsively bought it without opening the box. When I got home, I researched the model and determined that I really wanted the F55-Q503. So I returned it the next day.

Calling Best Buy stores to find if they had Q503 in stock was an exercise in frustration. The store that I BOUGHT THE Q502 LAPTOP from didn't even know they carried the Q502 - I had to speak with someone from the laptop department because the computer wasn't even in their inventory systems yet. All the other stores I called had no idea about the Qosmio. In fact, doing a search on the Best Buy website only revealed a single Qosmio product - a battery.

Just recently I found out that the early arrivals of the Qosmio are due to an exclusive deal Best Buy has with Toshiba. Best Buy will probably get to sell the laptops for a month before anyone else has them in stock. But I have no hopes of getting a straight answer as to when the Q503 will be stocked by Best Buy.

How heavy was it? (to the people that checked them out in store) Could you see yourself carrying one around campus? I would go check it out myself, but I'm in Toronto (not offered). If I may go to NY just to buy one.
