I am guessing it will, most likely one final drop for the holidays. My guess is the Q893 will drop another $50.00 down to $1,100.00 even within the month.

I mentioned it in another thread. There is no caddy, but you can hook up a second drive because there is a plug-wire. You would have to buy the caddy seperately.

First, a big thank you to ChiroVette and everyone else for all the useful information in this and other threads. After going through endless configurations for the past two weeks, I keep coming back to the 893 and I think I'm going to take the plunge. It really does seem to hit the sweet spot for value/performance.

I do have one little question, though. I am planning to add an SSD, and so would be using the second drive bay. But I do not know where to get the appropriate caddy. Since I am getting the SSD on NewEgg, I figured I'd check there first, but no luck. Any suggestions?

I would try on eBAy, making sure it is the right fir for the new Qosmio lines. That said, you can probably buy one from Toshiba or do a google search to find aftermarket Qosmio laptop parts. I am sure you can pick up a caddy.

Another price alert: J&R has bumped the Q893's price back up to $1,189.88...booooooo

They did that a while ago with the Q885 as well then as soon as the novelty wore off, they knocked it back down.

Yeah I know, but that pretty much signals that they're not willing to compete with Amazon, which means the price is going to stay stagnant for a while.

I disagree. J&R did the same thing and then immediately dropped the price down. Trust me, this price increase won't last.

Why would J&R want to compete against Amazon if they sell their products through Amazon?

For that very reason. Because if they are selling their product on Amazon's site, and Amazon is offering it for less money and free shipping, it's doubtful they will sell many units, at least not through Amazon. Make no mistake about it, the smart sellers who sell their stuff through Amazon don't want to be undercut by the very site they are using as a third party sales venue. You watch. J&R will lower their price or Amazon will raise theirs, one or the other.

I bought Q898 from J&R, then 3 weeks later I saw a better price on amazon (also on J&R, price dropped) and made a call them to apply their "price matching policy". They refunded me $90 (difference between old price and new price).

After my application I noticed that they immeditely dropped ther price under the price on amazon to provide the best price.

They were very kind and there were no resistance for this. I highly suggest J&R for buying anything you need.
