So, I've been looking around, and it seems like replacing one of my 2 500GB HDDs is actually possible. Now, I have a couple questions:

I assume any 2.5" Sata 6GB/s will work. Confirmation?

Is there a picture guide for doing this?

What is the best way to put Win7 on SSD without an install disk?

    Thanks, guys.

I believe some SSD's come with a cloning setup that allows you to clone the contents of your current main harddrive onto the SSD. Hopefully others can chime in on this. However, you should be able to do a factory install onto the SSD with your Toshiba Recovery Media as a last resort.

As for the SSD itself, any 2.5" SSD should work. You have a Sandy Bridge CPU/Motherboard, thus it is SATA-III [6 Gbit/s capable [also has backwards compatibility with SATA-II and I]].

It shouldn't be too hard to access the harddrive, just remove the cover and remove. There was a disassembly guide put together by another x775 owner [USNRoberts] if you need additional info: http://forum.notebookreview.com/toshiba/651540-x775-x770-disassemble-thermal-repaste.html

Here is a pic of the harddrive with the cover removed:

Good luck and keep us posted with any updates.
