Had anyone experienced that kind of issue? The notebook is new (bought it today). The "dirt" covers about 5 pixels (it's not regular) and looks like a grey shadow. Unfortunately it's placed in a very nasty spot getting all of my attention :/.

I'm positive those are not dead/stuck pixels because I can see it even when the notebook is turned off. To be 100% sure I've made a photo of the "anomaly" and when I zoom in I can see that pixels are working correctly but there is a grey "smudge" above them. I would upload the pictures but I've left my cable somewhere elese :(.

Can anyone tell me if it will be covered by the warranty or would I run into problems if I ask for a notebook/LCD panel replacement?

Thanks in advance for any replys!

Since you just got it today, take it back to the place you purchased it to exchange for another machine. Or if you ordered it online, explain to that retailer that this machine is defective and you would like to exchange for a new machine. Every reputable merchant I know provides a period in which you can return or exchange the machine, unless it was explicitly stated that no such exchange or return can happen once the machine is purchased (as part of a clearance event, etc.).

Or, you can go to Toshiba and demand a new LCD. Tell them that your laptop's LCD is defective, and tell them that you want a new LCD installed. I'm not familiar with how Toshiba support works, but if it is any good, it will either ask you to send it back to the factory to swap out LCDs or it will dispatch a technician to your house to swap out the LCDs.

Be persistent, especially when you just purchased it and have many options right now to get the problem fixed.

    Good luck!

I think I will first try to get it replaced by the retailer... I don't want to wait two weeks for toshiba to fix it :/. Anyway I can't understand how that thing could get inside the screen.

Good choice as Toshiba would just send you back a refurbed unit. ;)

Btw what is your exact model number? I recently bought the A355-6998 and the screen is flawless.

A350-10B. Do you think replaceing only the panel is an option in case retailer refuses to give me a new notebook? I don't want to end up with refurbed one :p.

I would do this too. Argue that this is brand-new; still within the return policy limits and there is NO reason to go to the manufacturer when you could, in fact, simply return the unit and get your money back.

Good luck. I agree. This would bug me too to no end.

No, unless you specifically purchased an extended warranty that offers on-site repair. If the answer is no you would need to send it to Toshiba and they'll send you back a refurbed unit. As was previously mentioned if you are within the return policy you might want to return it to the retailer for a refund, then go get a new one again.

I'm very disappointed how the things turned out. I went to the Toshiba service and they told me that it's indeed a manufacturing issue but they can't cover it under warranty. They said something that they need a "green light" from Toshiba to fix my problem. Any idea what I should do now or who I should I contact?

    That's pretty bad. :(

What retailer did you buy it from?

It sounds to me like you need to find 2 or 3 of your biggest mates and pay the person who sold you that laptop a visit. :D

Seriously if all else fails you'll have no choice but to call Toshiba and ask to speak to a manager at the call center.
