Don't know how legit this is, but still, kind of surprising to say the least.

    Satellite A100-SK9:

    Satellite P100-SD3:

    Too bad the new P100 only gets a Go 7300. $100 price-cut and CPU (from T2300 to T2400)+memory (512MB to 1GB) upgrade's great though.

Looks like I'd be getting the SK9 if the P100 series doesn't get faster graphics. :)

So is the SK9 out yet or what? Funny how Toshiba Canada's website doesn't mention anything about it.

I don't know, if the notebook model doesn't show up on Toshiba's site, the company selling the notebook probably made a mistake in their site. However, there were a couple of Canadian models in the P-M era that were like this though, so it could be possible.

Thanks, that's nice to know. Did you happen to see any new P100 models on display? Would rather get that with faster graphics instead.

    edit:

    http://www.compusmart.com/Product/Default.aspx?SupplierPartNo=750676(P100-SD8)

Apparently there's going to be a new P100 coming out real soon. Too bad there's no specs of the unit listed as of yet. Let's hope it comes with a Go 7600 or Go 7900... fingers crossed.

Thanks for letting me know. Just went to Toshiba's website and the specs are indeed listed (though the P100 coming with a 15.4" screen doesn't sound quite right lol). Surprise, surprise, it comes with a Mist Gray lid. Best looking of the three (Peacock Blue, Sunright Copper, and Mist Gray) if you ask me. Now only if they'd release it here before July 7... would suck if it wouldn't since I'd not be in Canada for another month and a half.

Well it's nice to know that Toshiba hasn't totally shafted us Canadians but from the stand point of the 17 inch notebooks in the P100 series (SD3, SD4, SD8) seem to be quite nice. My main focus would be the P100-SD8 with the 79000GS which is similar to the P105-s921 that is available in the U.S. From the looks of it right now, the SD3 is available at London Drugs and the SD4 is available at Best Buy (and probably Future Shop) but the SD8 might not be sold by a retailer as far as i know of right now. According the Best Buy the SD4 is going to be released on the 10th of this month while London Drugs should already have the SD3 (seen it in person). The new A100's should also be released on the 10th at Best Buy. If there is any information of the P100-SD8 being sold by a retailer, it would be appreciated if someone would mention it.

Well here's the press release for all the new Satellite notebooks:

I ordered the P100-SD8 just 15 minutes ago, from the compusmart website (at toshiba.ca they are currently out of stock)

comments: ALL of the P100 models are very good, but I cannot live with a Geforce Go 7300, so I opted for the SD8, the only model with Geforce Go 7900 (GS)

Well it seems that Staples is now carrying all the new P100 series 17 inch notebooks (more importantly the SD8 for me) and 4 models related to the A100 series. Atleast Staples has a better chance to offer savings while buying from Toshiba direct may not yield too many chances to save a little money.

Future Shop and Best Buy are giving some pretty good deals too... I just got a A100-0FH for 999... Probably one of the only core duos under $1000 in a Canadian retail store.

Yes it' MUCH cheaper, but in practice the warranty isn't honored in canada despite it being an "international" warranty.

The warranty woes of Toshiba America are legendary. I guess that's why they're cheaper there - Toshiba America disregards the warranty.

You get what you pay for?

I bought the P100-SD3 at Future Shop in Quebec for 1500$ last week.

The big thing that convince me to buy was the error of Toshiba... ;)
I went to CompuSmart and 2 F-Shop and all the P100-SD3 was the same... a Geforce Go 7300... but not with 128MB as Toshiba claim... they all have 512MB !! :D

So far, this is a great machine with a lot of power, I do some video editing and a lot of Photoshop.
    I love it !
I just hope it will stay that way in few months.

I try to find the service manual but found nada... it's too soon probably.

    Hi all,

Is it indeed true that ALL P100-SD3 laptops sold in Canada come with a 512 MB Go 7300 Graphics Card? If yes, that I'll run tomorrow to the Future Shop (in Toronto) and buy one (I must buy it from that store)!
Currently Future Shop's web site lists only a 128MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300:
    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10076193&logon=&langid=EN

I plan to use it for 3D design (Autodesk Inventor 11).

    Thanks for your help.

    Dénes

That's exactly what's weird with this, even the Canadian Toshiba site list the same 128MB.

I don't know if "all" the SD3 in Canada have a 512MB video card... just go to you local Future Shop and check the properties of the video card on their demo.

In my case, the 2 Future Shop I went where in Quebec City.

    I just purchased a a100-sk9.

Nice machine, processor and disk are fast. Haven't had it long enough to test battery life, but standard stuff. The matsushita burner hasn't gotten stellar reviews on cdfreaks.

    SuperPi 1M 30sec
3390 marks in 3dmark05 for the 7600 go. (bit low no?)

Futureshop sells em now for 1599.99 on sale
