I just got mine laptop today finally but i'm getting problems... Whenever I play games sometimes there is random lock ups, like the laptop would just randomly be stuck and not respond anymore so I have to restart laptop. This also happen when I was watching video and had a lot of other things running in back ground. Note, I JUST GOT THIS laptop, not eve 24 hr yet and no O/C of any kind. How can I go about finding what kind of lock up this is or do I need RMA?

Do you have the latest drivers?
-
Like Audi said, get the latest drivers. The 893 could have been manufactured a while ago and need the latest drivers.
However, if it still lockups, I would return (guessing Amazon since 893, they have 30 day return on defective items).
I have a 894 and haven't had any problems like that; I've had many programs open at once (CS:Source, IE, Chrome, Media Player, Windows Mail, Word, etc..).
I've also run Starcraft 2 on Ultra settings without any graphics problems or lockups.
Sorry to hear that, keep us updated. -
where and what kind of driver? I mean i'd expect it to work straight out of the box and not have to tweak it just so it doesn't give me this bs...
you guys mean GPU drivers? cause 259.12 is pretty recent if you ask me. -
Okay, this does NOT sound like a driver update issue, but a problem with the laptop. Because the Q893 is new enough that all the drivers in it should allow the PC to run beautifully. Yes, some of the new drivers should improve performance and perhaps add more features, but there is simply no way that his lappy should be freezing up and running this bad on the factory default drivers. If that were the case then what about people like me who bought the Q893 BEFORE any of the newer drivers were released because my laptop had only been released a few weeks earlier? Shouldn't I have had a ton of problems?
No, you need to send this laptop back and get another one. There is just no way in hell you should be having all these problems with this machine. -

how much can you oc your gtx 460m? possible at 800/1600/1500 at stock volts ?
-
sorry to bring an old thread up but i just did a 3dmark 05 and i got a score of 13036, when the average is 17k according to notebookmobile... what should i do? can i RMA this?
-
You running that off battery or plugged in?
Cause the x505-q893 cannot game on battery power it will be stuck in 2d mode and there is no way around that.
To enable 3d mode (games) you will need to have it always plugged into a power outlet.
That could be one of the reasons your computer will lag/lockup while trying to game. -
I have a brand new X500-067 and I score around 13000 in 3D 2006 also. I dont thing your score is low at all. I had problems with my SD card reader drivers. Any time I installed a card the computer would go crazy untill it finally blue scrren and rebooted. I would update all the drivers from Toshiba website. Make sure you uninstall the old drivers and reboot first. The new drivers have a star beside them at Toshibas site.

Is it working properly, does it play games, music, movies smoothly. I for one do not get the point of bench marks, except for some sort of bragging right
. IMHO, these qosimos will never get the scores like the sagers, and alienwares of the world (25++) so why waste your time. Oh, one thing benching does is increase your risk of damaging your pc, from the stress tests. LOL, then you would have to RMA your lappy.
So, take a deep breath its not that important

yeh but i'm also thinking i'm not getting the FPS i should be getting... i dont care about synethic benchmark other than it being a benchmark for how much fps i should be getting. I can not play black ops at a runnable frame when i could on my old Asus G71gx with a lower gpu and cpu... this shouldn't be happening.
-
Are you trying to play Black Ops on battery power or with it plugged in?
-
Well, thats a totally different and legit reason to RMA. If you have updated your drivers, and tried the other suggestions in this thread then send it back while you can. Also, if you do send it back, try and if you can, wait and get a Sandy bridge version of the qosimo x505. Its supposed to be all around better.
Good Luck -
The qosmio should beable to play COD Black Ops flawlessly.
As the others have said, are you gaming on battery? or plugged in? (the 892 and 893 experience performance drops when on battery due to i5 chipset).
What graphics drivers are you using? Toshiba or nvidia? -
Farcus
If you have a i7 740 and gtx460m combo, nothing is wrong with your score -
-
Sorry my bad, i thoght you meant 3dmark 06.
Have you tryed 3dmark 11?
New X505-893 and big problem
