I just bought my first laptop, Satellite P205-S7457
T5250 Duo
2G RAM
160G HDD
DVD Multi Drive/HD DVD
802.11 a/b/g wireless
Does not have Harmon Kardon Speakers...so they suck
I am thinking of upgrading to a 9 cell battery, the 6 cell does not last very long at all
Says its upgradable to 4GB RAM....Would upgrading to 4GB halp the computer run better?? How would I go about doing this?? Will I get the full 4GB?? I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
I know I cannot upgrade the integrated video....so I won't ask
how about sound...I would like to hook up Klipsch multi-media speakers to it for movie watching. Its the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1.
I don't have the HDMI output. Can I watch HD DVD if I hook it up to a HDTV witht the S-video out??
I have used CCleaner from posts on this site...so thank you for the advice.
What would some of you do to make this a better computer. I know it won't play games very good due to the X1330. But I will be using it for school mostly and I have alot of music and pictures. What about upgrading the HDD? Could I do this??
Thanks

I'd recommend you to upgrade your ram to 3gb max. You'll need the Vista 64bit OS for your system to recognize 4gb. Also, you probably won't even use all 3gb of ram unless you are heavily multi-tasking and dealing with huge files.
Upgrading your ram is also VERY easily done. You'll have to look up your user manual to see where the ram compartment is. Once you do that, just unscrew the back panel, take out the current ram, replace it with your new ram, and you're done! Remember to always take your battery out before opening your computer.
The sound quality will be awesome, given you're using the klipsch promedia 5.1.
Does your computer have a DVI output? if not, it's still ok to use S-video or vga. You'll probably need to get an adapter.
Replacing/upgrading your HDD is also a fairly simple task (but slight more complicated that replacing ram). You'll need to consult your user manual since each notebook's hdd compartment is located differently.
