I recently upgrade my laptop to Windows XP Pro on my Satellite M35X. I have tried everything to get the audio to work.

I have gone to RealTek's website and gotten the latest drivers, gone to toshiba to get the latest drives, installed Windows Universal Audio drivers and still get no sound.

In the control panel and device manager it shows that the device is properly installed and working. The volume is NOT muted (I did check this)!!

The audio driver currently installed is 5.10.00.6 (2008.01.23) for Realtek AC'97 Audio.

I have scoured through pages of sites with users with similar problems but no one seems to have an answer. Ironically, the sticker on my laptop says "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP." It sure doesn't seem like it.

Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    JP

If your audio is around pre-2004 (AC'97) then you do not install the Microsoft UAA driver. Maybe that is what messed it up.
