I have a Toshiba 5105 S607. I have had no success using RW disks in the CD drive even though all the documentation related to this laptop says the CD drive has a rewritable capabilities.

Toshibe includes CD writing software called Drag N Drop. Drag N Drop does not appear to have any method for formating RW disks or writing to them. When I use third-party software for formatting CD RW's the process appears to take place but then reports the disck is full.

I can read RW CDs made on other computers but still cannot write to them.

    What am I missing here?

Have you tried using discs from a different package? It's possible that you got hold of a bad batch.

I have tried different RW disks and the one's I'm using can be formatted in another RW drive and once they are formated on a different CD drive the Toshiba drive will read them and copy from them but won't write to them. It is as though the drive simply does not have RW capability even though the specs say it does.

Does anyone here have the Drag N Drop software on their toshiba? How is it used to format RW disks? I don't find any provision for that in the software. Is it possible that a non RW drive is in this machine since it was new even though the specs say otherwise?

I just checked my Drag and Drog software and also can not locate such a feature. I usually use Nero so it was actually the first time I've used it. I doubt it has this functionality--but third party software should work ok. Perhaps try downloading the Nero trial? See if that works.
